
(Article updated on 01-05-2025) Applications for the Turkish scholarship open at the beginning of January of each year. It is known that the Turkey scholarship has several types: Bachelor’s, Master’s, PhD, Research, Turkish language and culture.
All the following information has been prepared based on the official Turkey burslari scholarship guide.

The Turkish Burslari is a fully-funded scholarship for students from all over the world who can establish personal and professional connections to Turkey while enjoying high-quality education at top universities. Turkey’s location between Asia and Europe is reflected in its cultural richness and diversity, which is shaped as a result of its cultures and beliefs stemming from its roots extending to the Middle East, Anatolia and the Balkans.
Timeline for applying for Turkey Scholarship

Below I will mention the timeline of the Turkish Scholarship (for Bachelor’s, Master’s and PhD applicants) as stated on the official scholarship website.

It should be noted here that the previous dates differ for students applying for research programs or short-term programs, and the timeline for each can be found via a link at the end of the article.

Turkiye Burslari Scholarship Application Criteria

The applicant must not hold Turkish citizenship, is not a current student at a Turkish university in the same degree he intends to apply for through the scholarship, has graduated or will graduate before August (2025) from his university, and meets the following conditions:
Minimum Academic Achievement:
-For undergraduate candidates: 70%
-For graduate candidates (Master and Phd): 75%
-For candidates of Health Sciences (Medicine, Dentistry and Pharmacy): 90%
Age Criteria:
-For undergraduate programs: being under the age of 21
-For master’s programs: being under the age of 30
-For PhD programs: being under the age of 35
-For Research Scholarship: being under the age of 50

Documents required to apply for the Turkish scholarship

The application for the Turkish government scholarship is made through the electronic application system, where the applicant must complete the electronic application form by filling out the application and finally clicking on (Submit). As for the documents required from students wishing to complete the application through the electronic application system of the scholarship, they are as follows:
-Proof of identity (a copy of a valid ID or passport) (scanned photo).
-A scanned personal photo of the applicant.
-National test results (required from applicants who do not have any international qualification or certificate).
-A temporary diploma or graduation certificate.
-A certificate of completion of the last academic degree and a transcript of grades (scanned photos).
-International test results such as (GRE, GMAT, DELF, YDS, YÖS) and others (if required by the university or program).
-Proof of language (scanned image): This condition is mainly related to the program and the university to which the student intends to apply. Here, the applicant must review the conditions of each university regarding the application, as there is no specific certificate that can be submitted. Some universities may require a specific certificate and a specific score (TOEFL, IELTS, or other), and some universities do not require a specific certificate. Here, it should be noted that all applicants who do not have a Turkish language certificate at level (C1) must register in a course to learn the Turkish language for one year, regardless of the language of the program they are applying for.
– Research proposal: Required for applicants to doctoral programs only.
After completing the electronic application procedures, the application can be printed as a (pdf) file, where the applicant can take a paper copy of the file (which includes all the application details) in the event that he is invited to conduct an interview.
Turkey Scholarship Interviews

Successful applicants who pass the initial paper screening stage are interviewed by specialized committees in more than 100 countries around the world. Here, the applicant must ensure that he/she brings all the original documents and evidence that he/she previously submitted through the electronic application system. It is known that each interview usually lasts between 15-30 minutes according to the following: welcoming the applicant, examining the documents and evidence, what is the applicant’s motivation for applying, the applicant’s academic knowledge and professional goals, and the end of the interview.

Turkish scholarship time period
The Turkey Burslari scholarship period varies depending on the type of program the student intends to apply for:
Full-time programs:
-(Bachelor’s: 1 year of learning Turkish + 4 to 6 years of study depending on the chosen program).
-(Master’s: 1 year of learning Turkish + 2 years of study).
-(PhD: 1 year of learning Turkish + 4 years of study).
Short-term programs: or (Success Scholarship Program): Duration is one year.
Research Scholarship Program: 3 to 10 months.
Turkish Language and Culture Programs: 8-10 months.
Financial benefits of Turkish scholarship

It is known that Turkish scholarships are free, and here the financial benefits of the scholarship differ according to the type of program that the student intends to apply for (please read the following carefully before choosing the type of application):

-Study visa.

-Exemption from full tuition fees.
-Monthly salary: (Outstanding students can get double the following amounts):
>Equivalent to (3500) Turkish lira for undergraduate students.
>Equivalent to (5000) Turkish lira for master’s students.
>Equivalent to (6500) Turkish lira for doctoral students.
-University housing: The scholarship provides free housing for students.
-Health insurance: Health expenses are covered for all students through public health insurance.
Short-term programs:
-Monthly salary: (Outstanding students can get double the following amounts):
>Equivalent to (1400) Turkish lira for undergraduate students.
>Equivalent to (2000) Turkish lira for master’s students.
>Equivalent to (2750) Turkish lira for doctoral students.
Research programs:
-Monthly salary: Equivalent to (12000) Turkish lira.
Turkish Language and Culture Programs:
-A free course to learn the Turkish language for a full year.
-A monthly salary: equivalent to (10,000) Turkish liras.
-The scholarship provides free housing.
