Biography:
Founder and director of the Center for Organizational Learning and a senior lecturer at MIT, he emerged in the 1990s as a key figure in organizational development. After earning his Ph.D., Senge gained extensive practical experience working for major corporations such as Ford, Chrysler, Shell, AT&T, Hanover Insurance, and Harley Davidson in the 1970s and 1980s. In 1997, the Harvard Business Review named his book The Fifth Principle one of the essential management books of the past 75 years. Through his work, Peter Senge has sought to foster learning communities around the world in order to improve our world. Throughout his career, he has asked, “How do we create the best conditions, including tools and methods, to enable learning communities?” His particular interests focus on decentralizing leadership in organizations in order to enhance people’s ability to work productively. His work has inspired thousands of companies to commit to developing learning as a core competency in their strategy for long-term organizational change.
