Education: Bachelor’s degree from the University of Tokyo in 1955.
Life and work:
-In the late fifties, Imai worked for five years at the Japan Productivity Center in Washington, DC, where he was responsible for accompanying a group of Japanese businessmen on visits to American factories.
-1962: He founded his own recruitment agency in Tokyo to hire administrators, executives and researchers.
-1986: He founded the Kaizen Institute Consulting Group (KICG) to help Western companies introduce Kaizen concepts, systems and tools. In the same year, he published a book on business management in Japan, which helped popularize the Kaizen concept in the West. Now, this group has become a leading global institution in consulting work for functional excellence, and includes more than 400 experts working in branches distributed in 30 countries serving clients in 30 languages.
-Masaki Imai delivers keynote lectures at international conferences and universities in over 40 countries, presenting his philosophy, principles and methodologies of Kaizen.
